RIOTS UNDER VARIOUS RULES (POST INDEPENDENCE)

Talking about the riots and the rule, the first thing that comes to mind of Indians is BJP ( Bhartiy Janta Party), referring to the Gujarat’s Godra massacre on Feb, 2002, which is no doubt one of the worst massacres in the history of the country. But the fact is that we have had many riots post-independence under various rules. Below is the list of the riots that took place under the rule of the Congress and other parties. I am against the killing of the innocent civilians, be it under the rule of any. No party has been successful in stopping these riots that emerged during their rule. Following are the riots that took place : 1)       16 th August, 1946 - Communal riots in Bengal Direct Action Day, also known as the Great Calcutta Killings was a day of widespread slaughtering and killing, between the Hindus and Muslims in the city. 4,000 people were dead and nearly 100,000 were injured in the riot. 2)     ...

Javed's Nihari

Karim’s…Mughlai Cuisine…Moti Mahal…no doubt are one of those finest places to dine in for dinner, but as I traveled today in the downtown of Jamia Milia, I came across this area packed with food and people. Yes, the lanes of Zakirnagar in Batla House are one of the most crowded places in South Delhi and this brings me closer to ‘Javed Bhai ki Nihari’. What young and old, people of all ages crave this. Javed ki Nihari as the name says was started by Javed Bhai. He has this small place for ‘take away’. Dining in is one of the most difficult tasks on Saturdays and Sundays and finding a place is like an achievement in itself. I could see many young guys chit chatting here. The place is is a small area where Javed Bhai has his handi and a big tandoori roti opening. One side you have this big handi in which the nihari is filled in and the other side is the roti area. People, when coming to this place make sure have atleast an hour to spare even when thinking to have a take away. Th...

Harmful Ham?

Eating pork is harmful to health in a great many regards. This harm still persists today, despite all the precautions that are taken. Pork is one of the most consumed meats in the world. China is the largest producer of pigs that were first domesticated way back around 7500 B.C. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that more than 100 viruses come to the United States each year from China through pigs. There are some obvious concerns about this. Aside from not needing more viruses to fight off, some of these viruses can prove to be downright dangerous to humans. Of course, you’re probably familiar with H1N1, better known as ‘the swine flu.” This too is a virus that has made the leap from pig to human. But H1N1 is not the only disease to fear from the pig. There are other sicknesses you can get from eating the meat of the pig. ·          First and foremost, no matter how clean the farms and environme...

In response to 'Say no to expats calling for Saudi citizenship' (Arabnews article) by Abdul Rahman Al Zuhayyan

Mr. Al Zuhayyan, Firstly, I would like to inform you that I was born and brought up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Yes, very well did you say that we speak the so called 'gibberish' Arabic but do you know the fact that why do we speak so? Because people(foreigners) who speak fluent Arabic are actually disliked by the Saudis themselves. I have personally experienced it! Not to be offensive, but when at market places, I being an Indian speak Arabic and correct the grammar of a Saudi on his face angers the Saudi. So now you see, you don't want to hear what we are capable of. Saudis are happy when a foreigner speaks 'haaza, kida, ana, maafi'! ;) Secondly, talking about the Saudis and their capability of working, well, do you know the reason why Foreigners are taking the positions which you THINK can be taken by a Saudi? the Answer is simple. Because our output and our capability to make decisions is better and is at a lesser price than a Saudi. :) ...
